Klaus-Armin Nave

Klaus-Armin Nave obtained a PhD in Neuroscience from UCSD in 1987, followed by postdoctoral training at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla/California. In 1991, he became an independent research group leader at the Center for Molecular Biology (ZMBH) and was promoted to Full Professor at the University of Heidelberg in 1997. In 1999, he moved to Goettingen to direct a new Department of Neurogenetics at the Max Planck Institute of Experimental Medicine (now Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences). His research uses transgenic techniques and focusses on the axonal control of myelination, glial support of axonal energy metabolism and the role of oligodendrocytes in neurodegenerative diseases.
